Titles in Trailers
In the majority of paranormal horror trailers the font is basic and seems to be in a classic Times New Romen font. This simple font is used to make the text appear old and as if the text itself has been hand written. This fits in perfectly with the paranormal genre. It could also be used in trailers so it is easy for the audience watching the trailer to read. All the letters in these titles seem to have extra spaces in between them which makes the title apear longer, this can been seen especially in the 'Sinister' title and 'Paranormal Activity' title. Most paranormal titles in trailers are not coloured and are either black or white, which again fits in with the paranormal genre. However 'House At The End Of The Street' is a golden colour. This gives the font a candlelit glow which is effective as with the golden glow around each letter it appears ghostly and paranormal. 'The Woman In Black' title is also effective as it appears as though it is handwritten as some of the letters appear smudged and it looks as if they are disappearing. In every single title the text is always all in capitals. Similarly to 'The Woman In Black' title in 'The Last Exorcism' title the text also seems as if it has been handwritten as some letters appear smudged, this also makes the text look old and as if it has been written a long time ago, this again fits in with the paranormal genre.
Our Title Ideas
We came up with many ideas for the title of our trailer. We decided that we wanted the name to be based around the victorian theme in our trailer.
FRAMED- This was one of our title ideas as we believed this fit in well with the victorian picture.
BACK TO THE PAST- This was one of our previous title ideas as it fits in well with the plot and again contributes to the victorian theme of the trailer.
UNDEAD- We thought of this title for our trailer as the Victorian girl (Megan) always comes back to haunt and punish her family.
In the end we decided to choose the title CAPTURE. We decided on this name as it fits perfectly with the Victorian Picture as the picture is why the haunting begins.
