Our Task:
Our task was to reproduce the trailer of Paranormal Activity 1. This means we had to replicate the shots they used ourselves and learn how to create good effective titles that they use in successful trailers. The point of this task was to, improve our editing skills, improve our knowledge of camera shots and help us realise how many shots we need to create our trailer. This task enlightened us as creating a trailer is a lot different to creating an opening title sequence. (TS, MP, LM)
What we learnt |
|
From this task we learnt that making a trailer uses many short shots that in a trailer seem short and simple but filming the shots actually take a lot longer, this means you need to dedicate a lot of your time to filming. We also discovered that when filming the bed shots in the paranormal activity trailer that you need many difficult angles to make the shots look the best and as realistic as it can. When filming a trailer you need to use many different locations. Even though this trailer it is mainly filmed in a house we decided that we were going to use a variety of locations. The lighting used in this trailer is very dark which creates a sense of mystery and puts the audience on edge, because of this we decided to use this idea in our trailer and have the lighting dark throughout. The sub titles throughout are also effective as they use actual quotes from critics such as 'freaky and terrifying.' Which make the trailer more appealing to the audience as even the critiques are saying that the film is scary. (LM)
